Background : Muscle loss during sarcopenia and atrophy is also commonly associated with age-related insulin resistance. Interestingly, branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) which are known for stimulating muscle protein synthesis are commonly elevated during insulin resistance and sarcopenic obesity.
