Background and purpose: Memantine is a medication used to treat moderate to severe Alzheimer’s disease. Memantine targeting the glutamatergic system specifically N-Methyl-D-Aspartate offer a novel approach in treatment of psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder.
