Abstract
Increasing amounts of sewage sludge (SS) and phosphorus-induced eutrophication are major global issues, and this study addresses both under a unified approach, by exploring the potential of biochar derived from SS gasification in an experimental plant as an efficient adsorbent for phosphate removal in synthetic wastewater. The key innovation involves the use of a novel biochar, generated as a byproduct of an innovative gasification process, without any additional pretreatment.
